Launched in 2007 by Company Director Richard Austin, Protegimus Security Ltd began with a small team in Harrogate, where we became the approved contractor at The Event Centre situated on the Great Yorkshire Showground. Supplying security teams to various events at the showground we created a bespoke level of service for a niche in the market. Always well presented in shirts and blazers we stepped away from the traditional security officer stereotype.

 

In addition to the event security work, we formed a close working relationship with one of the biggest Comic Con organisers in the UK. Providing Close Protection Officers to VIP, Red Carpet and Corporate events. 

 

From there our business has grown by recommendation and word of mouth, with event organisers first meeting us in Harrogate and then requesting our services at event venues around the UK.

 

The Close Protection element of our business has brought a truly unique aspect to the delivery of our services. Many positions on our event security teams are taken by experienced Close Protection Officers, and those who aren’t at that level are mentored on the teams to operate to the same skill set.

 

In 2019 we expanded our business to offer a bespoke Asset Movement service; Following enquiries from dealers exhibiting at the Antiques Fairs our security teams were assigned to, we began to look into training and resources required for the movement of high-value items, including jewellery.  Our Close Protection team were keen to upskill, enrolling on SIA approved training to gain their CViT qualification and subsequent licensing.  We worked in the background with our own and the clients’ insurers, to progress the idea, finalising the process with the underwriters’ approval.

 

Today we supply teams to a variety of high-end events and have gained an excellent reputation in the Antiques industry for providing a service that is second to none.  We cover antique fairs around the UK, providing Security to over thirty fairs a year.

 

We continue to work as the approved contractor on the Great Yorkshire Showground, providing security teams to public, trade, and corporate events.

 

Our Close Protection operatives work across the UK and Europe.  Teams can consist of one or two operatives working together with a principle, visiting the sights of London.  To teams of over 20, working with VIPs across vast exhibition spaces.  Our intimate understanding of the processes involved with managing an event, give us the edge in our Close Protection operations.  Our teams create a safe environment for the principle to work within, continuously assessing and minimising risk whilst maintaining the objective of the brief, whether that be travelling, appearing on the red carpet, or signing autographs at a public event.

 

Our services are suited to short-term, bespoke response.  We specialise in evaluating the situation and providing the best solution for the task.  Our teams carry the latest equipment, including LTE/PoC radios communications which provide nationwide coverage and 24-hour office-based support in the event of emergency.  With equipment including temporary locks and alarm systems, security safes, smoke cloak, and vehicle immobilisation we can provide bespoke solutions to protect people, property, and assets.
